Design in Detail

Marjan heritage complex is located in Jazirah Al Hamra (Red Island) is a town to the south of the city of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates. It is known for its collection of old heritage houses and other buildings. The town is an old fishing and pearling center dating back hundreds of years. Much of the town survived, including part of its fort, a market place, mosques and many of its traditional houses, some of which were the homes of pearl merchants.

Extensive work has been undertaken by the Ministry of  Energy and Infrastructure to record the town’s architecture with a reconstruction and rehabilitation programme to restore many of the old buildings in the area. Retro inspired lanterns of Studio Brass Tacks are installed on poles and pedestals not only complement the design intent but also brings life and adds character to the architectural space.

Al Jazirah Al Hamra is now attracting a growing number of tourists who visit the place for shopping and recreation.
